Default 350 swap time

So i'm collecting up the parts to swap a 350 into my 96 blazer. I wanted to find a 96-97 vortec 350 so i could keep fuel injection but the only ones I can find in the yards around here are 1500 or more and 150xxx miles on them....so.....i figure i'll just find a older 350(one say from a 1994 g30 van) upgrade to vortec heads and then later swap the injection onto it running a carb in the mean time....so my questions are: can i use my 4l60e with a carbed engine? seams like i've been told the 4l60e needs the TPS input in order to work correctly....so if i get the trans with the g30 engine(700r4) how do i get my speedo to work? second question is can i just run an adjustable fuel pressure regulator with the stock pump? I wanna keep it in there so later when i get all the fuel injection parts. thirdly can i just use either 2 big pusher fans in front and leave the rad in the stock place? what other details am i missing? oh and i live in a state where they don't care about emissions

The only way to use a 4L60E with a carbed engine is with a stand alone computer That costs in excess of $1000.00 http://www.hgmelectronics.com/products/compushift.

There are cheaper options as the lowest I had found when looking into it was around $650, but it definitely would be necessary to keep the 4L60E.

Then there are other things in your truck which will not work without the factory PCM as well. You might want to reconsider finding a SCFI v8.

Anything is possible... you would need the engine, computer and harness from the doner vehicle. I wouldnt waste my time and money making a carbed engine work if your going to eventually go to fuel injection anyway. Just do itthe way you wantin the first place. Plus the coolness factor would be huge in having a V8 that looks factory installed.

well can i get a remaned short block, some new vortec heads and the entire injection system from a 96, 97 pick-up or suv? will it work? is there a cam sensor? crank sensor?...I guess what I'm asking is does the short block have to be 96, or newer?

really what I was thinking was get a lower intake from the junk yard and order up new heads, new spider and upper intake? I know all the front ***. will swap from the 4.3 but what about other stuff? Oh and I guess I'll have to source a distro.....
