Default 4hi & 4lo engagement trouble

electronic 4x4 engagement, 4hi & 4lo lights still work when ignition key is turned. However slowly lost the ability to engage 4hi in drive. it took 6 months to happen had to flip 4x4 switch multiple times, as the problem progressed I would have to some times stop and shift through tranny gears to "trick" the electronics or 4x4 motor encoder..Anyway I have found a way to access the 4x4 transfer case... put it in Neutral then select 4hi or 4lo.. 4hi gives me no "green" light, and so I have to listen to make sure it engage's, 4lo gives me the yellow light on dash, and it of course is the creeper gear so I know its engaged..

I have visually inspected the vacuum aculator under battery box, it appears to be in good shape for a 1994 jimmy, no rotted rubber.. the 4x4 motor encoder electrical is in good working order....

So I still have workig 4x4, but have to stop and use N gear to access, while I can deal with it, would like to fix it right.. any suggestions is appreciated in advance
