You can try the solonoid(s) but I'm going to go with 3/4 clutches. You just need to hope there's not another problem that caused them to burn up in the first place.

same thing two transmission guys told me. However one said if I pull it he would fix it for $200 and he used to be a reputable trans guy in this area. now he is retired and will do a few for extra bucks.

Default For What It's Worth

Hey man, I went through the same thing and it finally made me sell the damn truck. The guy I sold it to took it to a trans shop and it nearly drove that guy crazy, finally he figured out the pressure boost valve was bad. he replaced it and it still acted up, then he asked a friend at a chevy dealer and he told him he needed to erase the codes,,, (DEEP CODES).
These codes can't be read with the average OBD Reader, you will need one of those high dollar units like the dealers have.
Once he got those (DEEP CODES) erased the problem was gone, that was 8 months ago and the truck is still running great.

Good Luck

Did you have any check engine lights? I have no check engine light but I do have the ABS light on but I don't know if it is related or not, I bought it that way. A friend said that if the trans burn't up the fluid would have a strong smell to it. The fluid looks nice and red and smells normal to me. Thanks.

I didn't have a check engine light..

Your speed sensor will not let it shift if it isn't working.

If your speedometer isn't working check/replace the speed sensor.
Also check your trailer wiring,,, if you have a short in your trailer wiring it will short out the; Cruise Control and ABS System,,, both will make it not want to shift right.

Good Luck

My speedometer is working. I have not checked the tow wiring. I will give it a look Monday.
