Have you checked anything yet? fluid levels?

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. Just that it happened so suddenly. My neighbor,,a retired diesel mechanic,,told me his Blazer tranny went so he had it replaced with a new one and on his way home,,nothing. Just like mine. He said the filter had fallen off in the pan. Hoping for that. Snowed yesterday and today so I won't be getting under it today. But tomorrow hopefully

Ok so I have a 99 blazer LT 4 wheel drive and here is my problem. The speedometer does not work and it won't shift when in drive out of first gear. I can manually shift into first and second and when I manually shift to 3rd it shoots back into first. Me and my dad changed the vss and have looked at all the wiring from the vss to the tranny and we even tore apart the dash board to look for any frayed wires in there and have found none. We don't know where to look next and have been avoiding bringing it to a shop. We have a spare transmission we can swap in but we just are stumped and can't figure out what to do next. Any help is appreciated .

I believe if you disconnect the wiring on the passengers side it will go into fail safe mode and be in 3rd gear only. If so there`s a good chance its one of your shift solenoids which you access the the pan. Not a hard job. New solenoids are cheap also

Ok so after finally getting the pan out last night we found that the solenoid on the passengers side was not operating the same as the drivers side. When we pushed the drivers side in it was like a spring was pushing it right back, but on the passenger side you pushed it in and there was no spring function and it stayed. We ordered a new passenger side solenoid which was the 2-3 shift one and just because we noticed would there be a problem with the valve body since the passenger side is not spring operated like the drivers ?
