Default 4l60e question

Ok, So I live in Minnesota, and when the temp is below 15 degrees and the Jimmy has been sitting over night, if I do not have time to let the truck warm up first thing in the morning, and I start to drive, the RPM's get pretty high before it shifts into 2nd, once it initially gets into 2nd, everything is fine and back to normal (meaning, I can stop at a stop sign, or a stop light, start driving and it flawlessly shifts through the gears, to the point where i can barely feel it.

And any point through the day when the truck is started, it shifts flawlessly. It is just on super cold mornings when I do not let it warm up for like 5-10 minutes.

Am I right to assume that it is just because it is cold? I checked the fluid, the level is good, the fluid is fairly clean, does not smell burnt.

Thanks, That is what I was thinking.
I keep it parked outside, I have only noticed it really do it 2 times, and those 2 times the temp was between 8-10° with the windchill around -4°

I may be incorrect about this but I believe that when your transmission is cold the computer commands it to slip a little bit to help warm up the fluid. My '94 Blazer does the same thing.

You're very welcome. I replaced the 4L60E in my wife's '93 Jimmy last year and I learned a LOT about them.
