If you havn't already, pull the starter and use that area to access the bolts. I use a breaker bar on the bolts with one hand and a large screwdriver or prybar to hold the flexplate from turning with the other.

got the trans out friday and rebuild today the pan had very lil metal flakes in it small then glitter. and some slug that looked like wet ground up pencil lead. all the stuff looked good inside but the sun shell.i got a new one and a new sun gear with then new large bushing but it wouldnt go on all the way.i had to use the old gear. so i need to know if in the use of this trans does the sun gear ever come out of the sun shell. if so i am screwed.

Sun gear is the one that goes into the bottom of the shell and has the snap-ring on it correct? If that is the one you are talking about, I've had that be tight before. I put them together with a rubber mallet. I'm VERY sure they do not move independant of eachother(if they do you have bigger problems). But if your gear was in good shape you can reuse the old one.
