Default 4wd 2005 automatic-2wd 2003 standard engine and tranny

I need to know if I can take the engine out of these and swap'em? I'm trying to take the engine out of the 4wd 2005 automatic trailblazer with a 4200 v6 and put it in the 2wd 2003 standard mini s10 blazer that has a 4.2 v6. I would also like to take the transmissions out and swap those as well. Please answer this!!!!

Not without a TON of fab work. The 4.3L v6 that came standard in most S-series vehicles is WAY shorter front to back than the 4.2L inline-6 (not a v6) that came in the later GMT360/370 platform vehicles. The I6 engine is considerably longer than a v8 making a v8 swap easier... It also is a LOT taller than either of the 'V' engines. But this could be discerned from simply looking at the two... I seem to recall posting the dimensions of the 4.3L v6 and 4.2L I6 in the past as well.

Then there is the transmission issue... a 4wd transmission will not work in a 2wd application without swapping out the output shaft and adding the tail housing of a 2wd. Swapping the output shaft on these 4L60E/4L65E transmissions requires all of the internals be removed from the case. So no direct swap here either.

While you may be in a hurry for the information, please abide by the rules of the forum and refrain from posting the same question all over the forum.
