Well here is the full situation. I have a 1997 Blazer 4 door and 4wd. A few weeks ago the transmission started acting up. I would have a perfectly fine shift from 1st to 2nd gear and then the only way I could get it through the rest of the gears is by rev the engine for a little bit. Eventully a check engine light popped up and it scanned for a transmission component slipping. My dad, being the mechanic of the house, doesn't know much about transmissions so we decided to just replace the whole transmission with one from the junk yard. Surprisingly there were no 4wd 4L60e trannys in any of the junk yard so we got a 2wd 4L60e, a 2wd drive shaft, and a crossmember from the 2wd tranny. For the transmission swap we completely deleted the transfer case and the driveshaft connected to it and bolted up the 2wd 4L60e with the 2wd drive shaft. The next day we put a new filter and transmission fluid into the "new" 2wd tranny and first it shifted but it was extremely rough shifting, and the check engine light that I talked about before disappeared. But now the 2wd transmission is not shifting at all, and reverse still works fine. My dad thinks that its just an electrical problem, but theory is that the transmission from the junk yard was bad to begin with. Neither of uus has any idea of what the problem could be, so I REALLY NEED HELP with this one.

I dont wanna start guessing but it could be the shift solenoids

or possibly the junk yard gave you a bad trans

I think the junk yard trans is bad and my 4wd trans still might have some life in it, but how hard is it to replace shift selonoids? Haha I saw this one the side and this is how I feel about my Blazer right now

I dont think you have to do anything to the valve body to replace the solenoids.

Bunch of vids on it

I removed ALL of my 4wd stuff, but the transfercase and tranny...why? because you'd have to either refabricate the torsion bar crossmember or else your driveshaft wont work with it(crossmember is in the way)...I found a write on where someone took a driveshaft carrier bearing, installed it on the crossmember and made a 2pc driveshaft etc. I cant find it.

gio, there. my work is done. lol..

if you have anymore questions message me OP

Just pull the front driveshaft, front diff,cv axles, put the outter cv axle ends back in the front hubs,or else your hub bearings will crash and burn as soon as you pull out of the driveway.
I have a 98 blazer 4wd the transmission started screwing up I had a supposibly trans guy check it out and he felt it was not fried but after almost. $1500 still no working trans. But I have a 97 2wd both are 4 door can I just remove trans, transfer case, front driveline, trans cross member, and trivialize from 4wd model and use 97 trans, cross member, driveline and leave diff. And axle to temporarily convert to 2wd till I can afford a new trans for 4wd. Just wondering cause can't afford new trans right now and want to go back to 4wd this is my only means of transportation and it's been down for a month already yes I know for the $1500 I've already spent I could have had a new trans but unfortunately I trusted someone I should not have.

An this person wont' stand behind his work at all? Why did you pay him if he didn't provide you a working vehicle? Live and learn - get a used transmission (but get the right one). You'll be glad that you did. IIRC the 4WD frame is different too - no idea what else you might run into.
