Default 4wd clicking but not engaging..

Hey all

Having a problem with my 4wd...I'm thinking the actuator went (hoping its not more serious).

If I have my window down and hit the 4hi or 4lo button..I can't hear a click like the 4wd engaged BUT if I try to pull ahead in some mud or really wet grass on an embankment the front tires don't do a thing and the back tires just spin? Any suggestions? I had a similar problem in my zr2.. My battery leaked onto my 4wd actuator and it did the same thing... So before I replace the actuator...any suggestions?

Check your vacuum line going to the actuator. My '95 vacuum line going to the actuator was burned off.

Will do sir...I'm planning on bedlining my rockers tonight so that will gimme something to do while I wait for it to dry

Is it worth doing a manual cable mod?

There's like 10 vacuum lines. I'd take the battery out, then check that vacuum line, then get under the truck and go to the transfer case and check the lines running out of that. Keeps you from having to pull the lines out tocheck 'em, and mine were toast down there. Just a thought

Good luck!
