700r4 champ or chump
i am currently ( or was till tranny probs) driving a 85 k5 with 4inch suspension and 33 inch tires powered by a 350 with a 700r4. the tranny went out on me and i want to know if i should rebuild it, and if i do will it go out again. ( with in say a year) i use the blazer for driving around town and taking the boat to the lake and not for the highway per say. in conclussion i am questioning the reliabilty of the 700r4 in a blazer like mine made for moderate off road use

you shouldnt have any problems as long as you do the rebuild as its supposed to be.

tell your rebuilder how you use the truck and that you want it strong. There are specific upgrades that need to happen and the builder will take care of them. As for strength and durability. The 700R4 is one of the best autotrannies ever made.
Things you cna do to improve its longevity.
Install an auxilary tranny cooler.
Firm up the shifts, shift kit.
Make sure the TV Cable is set correctly.
Kevlar (high performance) clutches.
change your tranny pan fluid once per year.
