Default 79 blazer. potentially putting in new transmission?

A few months ago i put a brand new chevy 350 engine in my 79 K5 Blazer. Im thinking about investing in a new transmission and was wondering if there was one you friends like more than others. or if theres and alternative and i should try and rebuild what ive got in there now

any advice would be great! thanks

Do you have the 350 or the 400? Standard transmission?

SM 465 manual. 1 ton trans. Tough as nails.

Novak conversions deal with than and have parts.

Id not recommend rebuilying an auto yourself. Better to get one from TCI.

The manual isn't exactly easy but can be done especially with bearing pullers

If you're going to rebuild your own auto transmission, they don't get much easier than the TH350, but it can still be a little tricky. If you like manual transmissions, the SM465 is actually a good suggestion. The swap can be done with all factory parts, too. No need for any adapters from Novak.

What is in the vehicle at this moment? Are you wanting to convert from auto to standard or vice versa?

I think OP has a TH350 and wants to keep a TH350. Just wants recommendations on where to buy a trans or advice on if he should rebuild his own. That's my take on things. I think he has a regular (standard)
TH350 in his truck and doesn't realize that standard trans means manual trans with a clutch.

See, growing up, I always got confused.

I've always heard automatic and manual, and then I was hearing standard and wondered what they were talking about. It didnt take me long to figure it out, but when I did, I still got thrown off when they asked if i could drive standard...

Well there the problem..growing up sucks!

no idea where " standard transmission" came from.

Maybe it was from when automatics werent common.

Novak doesnt just sell adapters. Thet have everything for the sm465 including whole transmissions.
