82 GMC JIMMY Drive Belts

Default 82 GMC JIMMY Drive Belts

Just put a new water-pump on the 305. Well- I just had to get me one of those genuine Factory W/Shop manuals- really great stuff until you need to get the belt tensions correct. They specify 75 lb for the Generator & P/S Pump & 95 lb for the A/C Compressor for used belts- thats just fine & dandy if you have one of those special Belt Tensioning Tools -I'm sure there must be an answer for the guy who doesn't have one of tools in his bag of tricks?????

i didnt even know they had a belt tensioning tool for these belts and have been working on these things for the past 16 years. i just tighten them so they have about a inch of movement total in like a 15 inch section of the belt, if its a little longer area maybe a bit more. just dont tighten them down so they have no movement, can burn up the bearings on the accessories its turning
