Unhappy 92 Blazer 4.3 Vortec turns over but won't start

My husband and I bought a 92 chevy blazer 4wd. Was told that it ran when it was parked. It belonged to a county government official and was parked 2 years ago because a newer vehicle was purchased for the department. All the maintenance had been kept up. Everything underneath looks practically brand new. We have replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter, sending unit, strainer, etc. When the ignition is turned over it was popping so we did a check and redid the firing order. The engine will turn over but will not start up. What else do we need to check for?

spray a little starting fluid down its throat and see if irt starts. If it starts runs great for about 2-5 seconds then dies you have a fuel system problem.

thank you for a quick response. Did that and it doesn't start. New pump is working great and gas flowing through the filter. It was sputtering like maybe it was stopped up but after many attempts to "blow the junk out" (that's what I call it), we get the same effect. the popping has stopped since the firing order was redone.

Is the timing set properly? Have you taken a look at the spark to make sure that it is strong?

Can't get the plug out without breaking the wire to check that, but with the popping earlier we assumed that there was spark there. Don't know about the timing or how to check that. About out of money and no way to get to a parts store. Is there a way it can be checked with a few tools?

UPDATE: Thank you for your advice. After a little more tinkering with the firing order and some more starter fluid applications the blazer finally started up. She spat and sputtered but that's expected out of a vehicle that's just been sitting all alone for 2 years without any love and attention. We've taken out all the carpet and will be giving her an end to end make over as time and money allow. Haven't came up with a name for her yet but I will! Thanks again for your help and I hope to be putting pictures and progress up shortly.
