I'm from the netherlands and recently purchased a Blazer S10 from 1994. It's my first american car and jesus it's a sweet machine. I drove it home for about 200km's and when I parked it it developed a bad leak.
From what I've seen so far it's coming from the rear right side of the engine (passenger). It's dripping onto the frame rail and making it's way down.
I'm going look at it this week with a mechanic friend, was hoping any of you have any sugestions of what it might be, or could be.
it has oil all around the underside of the engine and transmission so I think I have to redo oilpan gaskets anyway.
Can be from several locations.
Probably washing it down properly and then looking for the leak is the way to go.
Head gaskets usually do not spill a lot of oil if any.
Oil pressure sensor attachment can be one source of oil at the back of the block.
Oil pan gaskets are not known to leak but giving it a re-torque would clarify it that could have been the source.
Front crank oil seal might be a source.
A bad seal at the oil refill cap and tube could be a source.
The gasket between the plastic valve covers and the heads could be a source.
That'll atleast give us some options to go through if we don't find anything right away!
I laid underneath the car at midnight and cleaned the framerail with breakcleaner to see if I could source the leak. When I went out in the morning it was wet again...
