I know there are tons of posts on transmission noises. Most conclude that it is either a torque converter issue or front pump issue. I just want to put my particular situation out there to see if anyone has experienced this particular noise.
First the transmission was just replaced last week. Shifts great, all levels are good. no issues at all except this noise.
The noise seems to only come when the truck is not cold. After starting the truck the noise kicks in about 3-5 seconds after. It is a high pitched squeal. After shutting off the engine the noise remains for a couple seconds and then dies out.
If had it on the lift and have determined it to be coming from somewhere around the front of the tranny.
Is this a sure sign of either a bad pump or converter? IS there a possibility of a bad vacuum?
The noise exsist in all 2wd and 4wd. Sometimes after revving it up it will go away for a couple seconds and then return.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did the noise exist before the trans was replaced? If not, I would take it back to the place that replaced/rebuilt the transmission. It is possible that something is allowing the pump to build excessive line pressure, causing the noise. It could also be a torque converter issue.

Look on the back of the engine, on the driver's side between the valve cover and distributor for green slimey looking goo. Sounds like a leaking lower intake gasket. You may also see this around the driver's side valve cover/waterneck area.
Been there, got the T-shirt - took it off and washed it and put it back on!
