95 Fuel Injector problem/trouble shooting help
Hey guys, I have a 95 S-10 2 door with CPI. The engine was rebuilt Dec of '09. Sense the I've had this gift of replacing the Spider about once a year or every 10 to 15k miles. Normal??
Seems to always happen right after the warranty. Go figure. I know that the CPI is bad news but I don't understand it to be this bad.
Now... Idk if this is normal and its why I'm asking you guys b/c I wanna make sure while I'm fixing it now. There is a crap ton of oil build up in the upper, I'll post pics. Now, I don't think its normal but don't have a clue as to why. The oil seems to be coming from the line to the passenger valve cover. The build up was there last time and I replaced the PCV valve to see if it helped.
What do you guys think? Any help to get me think in the right direction is appreciated greatly.
Matt

Well I dont think its oil build up its looks like normal inside of the planem with high milege along with a leaking spider injector or possible the fuel regulator needing adjustment. You can either replace the assembly and shell out some $ or try cleaning everything up.I have both systems the cpi and CFI.Both internal planems looked the same.Take your poppets out clean them with some fuel line cleaner or carb spray.Blow them out with High air pressure. If you have acess to parts cleaning tank take and soak your planems and clean the gunk out of them.Make sure you clean your spider assembly also.Put the sytem back together and do a fuel pressure test you should be running at least 60-70psi.I`ll post a link about your system.

Update and more...
I must have been tired when I asked my last question in the OP. My English is bad.
So, tonight I pulled it apart again to see what's up. I also went and got another spider. After I put it back together in Oct '12, new issues developed. I am curious about a few things and would like to run them by you Pros to see if something might come to light. This engine was rebuilt 3 years ago, and shouldn't show high mileage signs as stated in 1sttimejimmyowner's reply. In Oct '12, I took everything off the top and cleaned it very well. I also replaced the spider injector, O2 sensor, and EGR with all new parts. I used a screened gasket on the EGR also. The pictures below are from tonight, Feb '13, 3 months later. I took it to the dealer to have the codes read from the check engine light, which comes on intermittently. I guess because I have a 1st Gen OBD2, only they can read it (if anyone has a cheap solution to this, please share!), and it said O2 and EGR. It still comes on...
After I cleaned everything and put it back together, it now runs rough after I start it and and the first time it goes into gear. Then clears up after about 30 seconds. Lately it's been kinda rough when I stop while in gear, like at a light. It acts like it wants to die, maybe even missing. When I'm on the highway now, at 65ish and at about 2500 RPM, it acts like the spider did before it gave out. It gets me sometimes, but, so far it's just the under powered rough feel. Harder I push it, the worse it gets.
Here's my idea and why I pulled it apart again. Maybe the fuel return line is clogged and the regulator can't do its job, like possibly over pressured? That would count for the need of a new spider every 6 to 12 months. Also, the seal on the stem for the pressure test port blew out. When it did, I had to rig it to get her home. I couldn't get a 100% seal but enough to run. I then felt like the truck was back to normal. Ran good and seemed like it had power again, maybe because the excessive pressure could escape. One person told me it could be the transmission or converter. It wasn't done with the rebuild and it's probably time, so it's been a thought.
Also, the carbon build up, is that normal? I was thinking the EGR isn't working and why my light still comes on. Thinking wiring could be bad. Would that cause the oil in the upper plenum as well? Still seems to be coming from the PCV.
Thanks for the help and bouncing my ideas off you guys.
