Default '95 S10 Blazer

My wife just spun the bearings in our '95 s10 blazer 4wd. I figure I'll just pull and replace the motor, but I've been told I can only use that yr. due to a sensor under the timing cover? Is this true or can I use any yr. withing a yr or two of this one. Or could I just find like a core and swap all my intakes and what not over?

'95 is a bastard year, it is OBD 1.5. Not a OBDI like the '94 and not OBDII like the '96.

IF there is a sensor in the timing cover, swap it to the new engine. You will have to swap all the sensors over anyway and you may have to swap the intake manifold to get the correct fuel injection system. If you have to swap the intake, stay away from a '96 or newer. In '96 GM changed the angle between the heads and intake mainfold, and they changed the angle of the bolts holding the intake manifold in place. Your '95 intake wont bolt up to '96 heads.

A '93-'95 block should work in your case. Verify your timing covers are teh same. Count the bolts. I used to have a link to an excellent article about all the engine changes over the years, however puter issues has forced me to use a laptop for the time being and I dont have that link on this machine.

Swart may be able to post it up.
