Default 96 Blazer S10 code w

1996 S10 Blazer 4.3 vortec code w. What is the correct torque for the intake manifold gasket. The intakeseems to be aluminum and I had a small leak at the drivers side front front intake, I want to try to retorque the intake to see if that will fix the problem or if I need to disassemble and install new gaskets. No antifreeze in oil. Does the vin # indicate what the intake manifold would be. I have another blazer 94 s10 code w and the the torque for the intake is 35Ft Lb. Thank you

Chances are it won't fix the problem. The factory gaskets are very weak and really improperly chosen materials for the coolant used and lets leave it at that (we have a thread on dexcool so lets keep that out of here).

For the sake of answering your immediate question, the proper torque for the lower intake manifold to cylinder head bolts is 1st pass at 27inlb, 2nd pass at 106inlb and final pass at 11ftlb. As you can see, very light. The upper intake manifold bolts are 80inlb final pass which again, is next to nothing.

The lower intake manifold gaskets have a plastic gasket shell that is overmolded with rubber to seal off the internal passages. They don't require excessive amounts of torque to hold everything in place and seal like the old paper gaskets did...

Sounds like you are in the same boat I was with my old Bravada. I just bit the bullet and swapped in new intake manifold gaskets over the summer so I knew it would be good for the winter.
