96 s-10 blazer running like crap
I just reacently bought a 96 blazer and already have engine issues. When I start it (to warm it up) it usually wont stay running. I have to put a pipe in between the gas pedal and the seat to idle it up higher. When I drive it down the road, it "bucks" a lot. When this happens, my "brake" lite and my "anti lock" lite comes on and then goes off. When comming to a stop, it will usually stall out. My engine lite comes on sometimes. I got a random misfire code. I have replaced the crank sensor already with no help. I think I'm going to replace the TPS sensor next. Any advice or help on this would be really great! Thanks. Mike
I wouldn't replace any other sensors. First try a tune up consisting of spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor. Also, clean the throttle body (and idle air control valve in the TB), clean the EGR valve and replace the gasket with an updated gasket with an integrated screen, as well as clean the MAF sensor with MAF specific cleaner.
Also, a crank variation learn procedure must be done when replacing the crankshaft position sensor. There are subtle differences in sensors and a crank variation learn procedure calibrates the new sensor so the PCM knows where precisely where the crankshaft is.
