Default 96 Transmission problem

I wanna start by saying im going to try to give the short short on this one, Also thanks in advance for any help at all.

A few weeks ago I when I would pull out from a stop in the morning it felt like the transmission was in 4wheel low. Like just not shifting but not moving too fast just like in 4wheel low.

Then last week when going up a hill it would downshift from Overdrive or Drive to second and make a weird noise and hesitate for about a 1/2 second.

So I guess my question is, do you think its time for a rebuilt or could it be something else?

Now for some background on the blazer:
1996 Blazer 4wheel drive
89,000 miles
new jasper transmission in 2005 and i would say about 40,000 miles ago (wasnt done by me, but the other owner.)
external transmission cooler.

its possible yes, depending on how hard you roasted it or not. theres 3 possible things that i can think of. 1 shes cooked. 2 the trannys not adjusting to the rpms the motors putting out properly, and it is just overworking. 3, when was the last time you use 4x4? it could be stuck in 4low, and having you think it is in 2hi, electronics can be a pain.(for better word then i would like to say) but sense they got away from floor stick shift transfercases, its also a possibility, check and see if all 4 wheels are spinning, maybe hook it up to the computer and see if anycodes come out. never know, thats a tough one id say
