I just bought this car,170,000miles.
What is a ballpark figure for miles per gallon of gas, city & road, for this age of car?
Im only getting 10miles per gallon,on the road?
Any solutions?
Thanks for all responces

Figure around 16mpg average. Doing the regular maintenance will help your mileage. Change oil, air filter, spark plugs, etc.

Also, keep your foot off the gas. That's the biggest mileage killer.

I get like 20ish by driving average.......

I would go ahead and do the maintenance, and is it 4x4? If it is 4x4 will lower gas mileage......

It's all dependent on how its driven and its mechanical condition, but this much is true:with the GU6 axle (8.5 ring 3:42 ratio) I consistantly deliver 23-25 mpg per tank!
-Now I live in flat country and commute all at 55-65mph,but a similar Jimmy delivered 20 mpg in the moutains of northern NH....
