Default 99 Blazer overheated blown head gaskets?

Will I purchased a 99 blazer and it overheated it has water in the oil and is blowing white smoke, could it be a intake gasket problem or headgasket problem? Idles like crap. Thanks.

Yep, I bet is does idle like crap... don't run it too much or you could mess up other things like the cat and oxygen sensors.
My guess is the previous owner covered this problem up and sent it on down the line... but that is pure speculation on my part.
If it were my truck, I would just go ahead and pull the heads too... it's really not that much more work and then there's no doubts in the back of your head when you put it all back together.

Should I have the heads resurfaced or should I just install the head gaskets and scrape the cylinder heads clean?

IMO i would have them checked and a valve job done for peace of mind..around here it's only 10 bucks per cylinder 60 bucks to do both heads.. check with your local machine shop ..It's Just an idea.

Use a shallow outside puller, and a box end wrench.

thanks which way is to loosen it counter clockwise or clockwise?

I put a steering wheel puller on the pully itself so I can hold it in place and use a large wrench to turn it, is that right?

what pulley are you removing? The fan is bolted to the water pump and should pull right off once you have the nuts removed from the studs

Fan thread is regular righty tighty, lefty loosey.

The fan actually threads onto the snout of the water pump. The pulley is what is bolted on. Removing the for fasteners on the pulley will not remove the fan/clutch assembly.
