So, my temp gauge quit and I wasn't getting heat, so I got a new sensor and thermostat for kicks, replaced that just fine(nice rust color, lol) but when I went to change the sensor, I noticed it had a different connection then the one I bought, which is supposed to be OEM. The new one is the sensor with a wire attached at the end, and a connector at the end of that wire. I'm my Blazer, the sensor has a connector at the end of it, and it gets connected to a bunch of wires up at the top of the engine, plus it's two wires, white and black. Not even sure the sensor is bad persay, the connection actually snapped, so it's really the connector that needs to be changed. I've got it connected now for the time being, and I've got better heat after everything is said and done, but does anyone know how I can change out that connector, or point me in the right direction? This is the new one And the old one is still in it, but that's how it hooks up, I can just get it to fit onto the prongs, but it definitely won't stay secured for long, will probably try taping it for now
All those connector pigtails are available from lots of sources, including Amazon, RockAuto, the Chevy dealer, and most local auto parts stores. You just cut the old one off and splice the new one on. Easy-peasy.
After posting, I was able to find the part I needed, just need to install it 😁
side question, if you might know the answer, I had another post about my Blazer starting really rough in the rain/snow/cold, like chug starting, but after I replaced the thermostat and rehooked up the sensor wire(still original one) it's started FINE every time, and we've had extremely cold temps lately. I'm the past, if it was under 30 and the car was sitting outside for 5+ hours, always a rough start. Went 24hrs without starting at in 5° weather, thing started right up, lol. How could either change, change how the Blazer started?
