Hey guys I drive a 99 blazer 4dr 4x4 4.6 vortex and sometimes when i get on the gas the engine revs but nothing really happens, its like the hulk grabs hold of the axel and stops the acceleration. But when it shifts to the next gear it seems to catch n accelerate. I just bought the damn thing granted it has 160,000 on it. Hoping that its not the tranny what can I replace to try and solve this problem?
Also when full throttle cuts out around 3000 rmp and 4500 rmp kinda the same slipping deal.

If it really is slipping, you are likely looking at a rebuild.
You can check some things first though. Clean the EGR valve, MAF sensor, and the throttle body. Do a complete tuneup.

How would I go about doing this, im sorry im 20 yrs old but pretty mechanically inclined. I was just actually reading your thread on seafoam and was going to do an upper engine cleaning. I dont wanna do the oil tho cuz I think dropping the pan first and getting the crapoutis a good idea. What do you recommend I clean the MAF with, carb cleaner? and what do you suggest for a tune up.Do the cap rotor plugs and wires really get that much wear on them to replace them? I also have been reading about plugs. Bosch are crap go with acdelco! but which exact plugs from delco?
one last thing where exactly is the erg n what does it do?

EGR == Exhaust Gas Recirculation
Use only MAF specific cleaner or electrical parts cleaner on the MAF sensor. Both should be available at your local autoparts store.
For the EGR valve, any general carbon cleaner will do. Just make sure it is dry before putting it back on. You can run a search to figure out where the EGR valve is on your motor. A screened gasket is available that will cut down on future cleanings.
You have not specified the mileage on the truck, but it is 10 years old after all. Age affects rubber/plastic components quite a bit. AC Delco double platinum plugs were installed from the factory and will provide good long service life.

The EGR is one of the easiest things to get to on the front of the engine. It's right under the curved section of the throttle cables. Two bolts on either side of a cylinder looking thing with an electrical connector on the top. Can't miss it.

hey guys thanks for you help, i cleand the MAF and IAT sensors with electric cleaner and soaked the EGR in Seafoam cuz its a cabon cleaner. After doing that and seafoaming using 1/4 can in the gas tank and the rest down the throttle body my blazer runs like she had a fresh 350! No more hesitations thoughout the entire rpm range and no more bucking when tranny shifts. Hell I did a 3 gear burnout got the tires up to 70mph the bitch dropped 2nd and 3rd like butter no stalls or bucks HAAAAA! thanks alot guys!!

good lord I hope that works for mine. It has no power and has 89 grand on mileage.
If you let off the gas, the vehicle doesn't move at all.
I plan on doing the same thing, complete tune up and egr, maf, and TB cleaning. If that doesnt stop my power problem, I'll have to go to a mechanic.
