99 trans compatibility
I'm trying to find a solid answer to my question, but I seem to be confused lol...
I have a 1999 blazer 4x4 3 button auto with the 4.3l
My transmission has been slipping and has gotten way worst since.
I'm wondering if there are certain years I'm looking for compatibility, or am I good to use any auto 4x4 trans?
I'll be using my original transfer case.

First off - I am NOT a transmission tech, and hopefully someone who knows more than I will chime in to add to, or correct if I'm mistaken.
For these trucks, your best bet for drop-in compatibility is to find a 98-2002 4wd transmission as there weren't any drivetrain changes in that window. Likely, a 2003-2005 will work as well, but there was a minor engine and ECU refresh that happened that may affect compatibility. I think the same could be said for the 96-97 transmissions. I'd stay away from anything 95 and older those trucks used older OBD systems.
From what I've read online, a 2wd transmission might require a programming flash to work.
