99 w/P0300 code - yes, another. Timing?

99 w/P0300 code - very rough idle under 2000 RPM.
History of problem: Drove the car to work-no problem. Started it up to leave and was running really rough. Shut it off and tried to start it again, would not start, cranked and motor tried to turn over then would jump, lights on the dash would go off, ignition stopped and back hatch popped open. Finally could get it started and it ran really rough, was able to drive it home and it did run better at high RPM's. Smelled gas strong. Code read P0300. Spent several hours reading forums on P0300 then changed the distributor and fuel injector spider. Now will not start at all. Does anyone know anything about the timing, could it be off? Out of options and wasted several hundred dollars already. Fuel sensor shows plenty of fuel getting to the motor before the fuel injector. This is a 99 Blazer with 140,000 miles. Plugs and wires - all fairly new and still in good shape.
Got it to run now, very rough until 2000 rpm then smooth. Timing check and reset - problem still exists. Out of options please help.

Fixed it !!!!
After spending several hundred dollars replaced the distributor cap and ran just fine. Fixed . . . . for now.
