AC Orifice Tube = PITA

Hello,
Trying to fix my 99 Blazer S10 4.3L 4WD's AC.
Started to switch out the compressor, which was fine.
THEN....
Attempted the AC Orifice tube. It got stuck. I searched on here, found that people were threading a screw in and banging it out. Tried that, and it looks like it only pushed it in further. Its seems half of the Orifice tube is ~2.5" pack from the inlet of the Evaporator. It just wouldn't pull.
Anyone have any ideas? ANYTHING?
Here are some questions:
1) Seems like the orifice tube is a pressure regulator of some sort. if it is indeed stuck, what happens if I just leave it there and reconnect up the system? Will the AC perform? eventually fail?
2) Anyone know a way of getting this POS out?
3) What does the inside of the evap look like? is there an open space where I can keep pushing the old orifice tube into, so it will just be there, and then I can just install the new one?
Thanx for the help guys,
-Peter

Try blowing shop air into the line on the evaporator that does not have the orifice tube in it, worked like a charm for me on a guy's truck that he had pushed in a orifice tube right on top of the other without knowing.
Good luck

if the orifice tube is indeed plugged/ damaged it needs to come out cause it will cause problems in the AC system. I've never really had any problems with them just some needle nose pliers and I was always able to get them out.
