Default Am I doing this right?

So I have the common problem of the trans not shifting into park. It floats between rev & park. I crawled underneath, pulled the adjuster clip down, manually put it into park, had bro put shifter into park, & pressed in clip. Cycled through & still wouldn't go into park. Tried the same thing but in neural with same outcome. Trans was replaced right before I got it & I know they didn't adjust it they just reattached it because there wasn't a scratch on the clip & it was a total b&%$# to pull it down, for me. Anything else I should try or just replace the cable? It's $50 (part # 15189198 ).
