Anyone know how long tranny dipstick should be
Does anyone know how long the tranny dipstick should be on an 86 s10 2.8L? Not sure my truck has the original dipstick installed and trying to figure out if I have enough fluid in there.

Thank you, I would much appreciate it. My current dipstick doesnt fit snug in the tube so thats why i assume its not original and the handle for both oil and tranny stick are both white.
Also if not too much trouble can you also measure the oil dipstick?
Thanks

you want just the metal part of the stick measured, or the overall length, includeing the handle?

tranny - 28 3/4"
oil - 24 1/8"
this is a straight measurement, not including all the bends in the metal. These measurements were taken on my 1986 2.8L TBI 4x4 blazer.

Thanks for your help. My oil dipstick is the correct length, but my tranny dipstick is different. My tranny dipstick is 25 1/8" maybe thats why i never see any fluid on it when the truck is running? I will post a picture of the dipstick and tube tomorrow during the day.

im sure you can find plenty at your local junk yard. If not, let me know and I can look for one next time I go. Might not be for a while though.

Here are a couple pics I took of the engine bay and dipstick. I went to a few junk yards near my house, but they had some later model first gens there and the dipstick tube was in a different spot then mine. I circled the are where I saw the dipstick on the cars in the junkyard in Red, mine is circled in Yellow. Is your dipstick tube in the same location as mine?
Thanks

mine is where you have the red circle. If you trace the tube down to the tranny, there is actually a bracket around it that gets held in place by one of the tranny bolts. My guess is that yours has been moved to a different bolt. No big deal.
