bad headgasket or??
hello guys i have a 85 gmc k5 that has a 383 stroker engine with a bit of mods, the engine was completly rebuilt and now water passes into piston 7. i was givin two options i have a blown head gasket which is new, or i just need to retighten the bolts. i was hoping some one has had experiance with this, or if some one noes and easy fix.

Could be a number of things. Bad head gasket, cracked head, bad intake gasket, etc. I would start by pulling off the intake manifold to see if coolant is leaking into the #7 intake runner and go from there.

it does run but rough. it has no water and the oil is white were it was mixing with coolant.the mechsnic thinks that it is freshly rebuilt that the head may need to be re torqed and tightend. so im going to try that first.

i think i found it
well me and my uncle started tearing down the heads, since it was only one head we decided that we were going to tie down the bolts down a bit more, most of them were under specs so we torqed them, but the last one by the cylinder that was flooding wwith water so horrible. it would just keep turning and turning, it was a pain to pull out but there was only half a bolt. like if the had grinded it down on bothe sides . so now all i have to do is get a die and rethread it from 7/16 to a 1/2 inch. and just get a new bolt that will fit. and i would have finished today but everything was closed by 6pm so i have to wait till my next day off

Well, good luck on that buddy. I sure hope you have already fixed your car. I have had a blown head gasket set before but I was too lazy to check or replace it myself, so off it goes to the shop.
