Bravada motor blown..now what

Fel-pro is good stuff, if you remove the lower intake plenum(which you have to to change head gaskets) buy new intake bolts as they are stretch tights, pay close attention to the torque specs on these. You will also need a degree wrench to reattach the heads, to set them properly.

Do you mean in the blown motor? Or the donor? If the blown I wouldn't worry about it, the only way to clean it out really is take it all apart and spray it down with some kind of cleaner(brakleeen is my choice) to make sure you get it out of every book and cranny.

I meant as far as cleaning out the oil cooler lines, other lines that the metal shavings could have collected. I guess running it and then doing a quick oil change would work but I just don't want the shavings to collect in the new motor.

I see, it may be a good idea to replace the radiator, or the oil cooler if it separate, (I can't quite remember, and don't have the truck in front of me to look) then you can spray some brakleeen or some other degreaser in the lines and blow them out with compressed air. That should make a terrific mess but it will get any shavings out of your lines.(maybe attach some sort of plastic bag with a vent up top to one end of the line before applying the air)

So the motor I purchased must have been from a 2 wheel drive so I am swapping the oil pan from the old onto the new. Looking at the internals of the blown motor I noticed something funny in the oil pick-up screen...maple leaf seeds covering about 80% of the screen!...here are some pics. Only way I know they could have gotten there was PO had the intake gaskets done at a shop about 400 miles ago...
