i need to replace my a/c compressor so i went to my local salvage yard.

they had 1 identical to mine, but it leaked all the refregerent in 2 days from the compressor seal.

i went back today to get another one, they only have one and the pulley/clutch is smaller in diameter. they told me their system tells them it fits without problem, and that the tensionner will take up the slack from the belt.

is this true ?

If it is only slightly smaller then yes.

IMO finding an AC compressor at a junk yard that doesn't leak is going to be like winning the lottery.

 

its about a 3/4'' difference in the pulley diameter.

do you think its too much ?
