Can the goodyear gator back belt cause a wining noise

I just put a gatorback on my truck a month ago before i went from north carlina to new york and back and ive had no problems and no noises

Try revving the engine in park and see if the noise is there before buying another belt. If the noise isn't there it is something else.

Why is that not a good idea? He only needs to run it long enough to determine if the noise is indeed belt, or pulley related. We do it all the time in the auto industry with no negative results.

so if i choose to remove the belt how far/how much time can the car be driven for?? So doing this will not damagemy motor/battery??

I revved it today and the noise was there... I called kregan auto parts to check the warrenty on the belt and it had a 3 month warrenty, and i purchased it on Jan 6 2009

I would not drive the vehicle with the belt off. Since you hear the noise while rev'ing the engine in park, then the noise is RPM dependent.

I would remove the belt and check over all pulleys for play and/or gritty feeling. Then start the engine and see if the noise is still present when you rev it. You can safely run a cold motor for a minute or two without a problem.

After you reinstall the belt, check the tension. You should not have more than a 1/2" of deflection in the belt in the longest stretch between pulleys if it is tensioned properly.
