Can the goodyear gator back belt cause a wining noise
I revved it today and the noise was there... I called kregan auto parts to check the warrenty on the belt and it had a 3 month warrenty, and i purchased it on Jan 6 2009
I would not drive the vehicle with the belt off. Since you hear the noise while rev'ing the engine in park, then the noise is RPM dependent.
I would remove the belt and check over all pulleys for play and/or gritty feeling. Then start the engine and see if the noise is still present when you rev it. You can safely run a cold motor for a minute or two without a problem.
After you reinstall the belt, check the tension. You should not have more than a 1/2" of deflection in the belt in the longest stretch between pulleys if it is tensioned properly.
