can i use a transmisson from a 96 blazer and install it in a 98 blazer?? help me out

hi i found a really good deal and i need a new transmisson for my 98 blazer but the tranny i seen was from a 96 blazer both trannys are 4x4 so i wasnt sure any opinions?

The trany from the '96 will likely have the detachable inspection cover as part of the bellhousing and the newer '98 might not but they still have the same bolt pattern also the cooler lines may attach differently (quick disconnects ) use the same adapter and mount ... green plug is same ... shift selector same ... I swapped in a trans from a "99 into my '96 Tahoe LT 4X4 and the R&R went nicely

Okay, now let's say I have my '95 Jimmy. Will basically any 2nd generation Blazer/Jimmy 4L60E work in it? How about one from a 4x4 (mine's RWD)? Things like detachable covers and so forth make no difference to me as long as it will mount and work properly.

As for the cooling lines - have folks found it convenient to change only the fittings themselves or is it easier to just get already-compatible lines?
