I would guess transfer case or rear differential (2wd); front, rear differential or transfer case (4wd)... the only other items to check are motor mounts if one is broken then the motor can shift and might cause some items to grind against each other, but this is very rare...I remember owning a '65 Malibu and I would hear a clunk in the engine compartment when I accelerated hard from a stop....found out the previous owner beat the **** out of the car by drag racing it so I had to replace the motor mounts and that fixed the problem, got back some performance too...but I digress....

An automatic has very few "gears" in it. They have splines on the input and output shafts. And the only gears are in the "Sun Planetary Gears", these would be the only gears in the tranny that I have heard of and I have read on other boards that this is a part that does have problems for the tranny in the Blazer/S10 trucks....

Is the fluid level up to par? An auto tranny is a hydraulic pump basically

Ok, let us know what its diagnoses is.

I was thinking this spring to install a Jetperformance kit, -click- when I change filter and fluid. Not sure if I want to mess with factory set shift points though.

I saw that in a catalog and was wondering about it. If you do install one do a report on it.

I will post one. Won't be until March when it warms up out there. It'd darn cold in the barn.
