Default Can transfer case be removed in vehicle '99 GMC Jimmy 4wd and similar

Struggling to pull the transfer case with the engine, transmission installed in the vehicle. Is it even possible to pull the transfer case by itself while still in the vehicle?
I have a 1999 GMC Jimmy 4WD but I figure the 1999 Blazer should be nearly exactly the same. I have it pulled back about 1 1/2"-2" and it won't move further back.
Do I just have to find the sweet spot or is it impossible? My transfer case is the NP236

Thanks for your reply's

Yes, they can be removed and installed while in the vehicle. Where is it hanging up as you try to slide it back? Everything disconnected?

Thank you for your reply. It doesn't seem wedged anywhere but I can't get it far enough back to come off the shaft.
Looks like it stops where the aft case starts to angle out back toward the middle. It stops at the cross member that is
welded in.
I'm pretty sure everything is disconnected. Cannon plugs on the speed sensors, vent tube, wire harness for the controller.
There is a plastic clip on a bracket on top. I have the harness out of it but the clip is still there.
I took the controller off.

Unbolting the rear transmission mount and jacking up the rear of the transmission will give you the room to slide transfer back off the tail shaft of transmission. Good luck.

It has been unbolted and jacked up. Maybe I need to try and push the transmission higher. And maybe push the tail of the transfer case side to side. I'll
get back to working on it tomorrow and let you know. As long as I know it is possible I should be able to get it.

So I did get it out. Looks like moving the harness laying across the top of the transfer case was what was keeping me from that fraction of an inch I needed.
Now I just need to slap the replacement in and I'll be back on the road.

Thanks for all the help

Glad you got it figured out, good job. Thanks for the update. Be sure to check fluid levels in the transmission and transfer case before driving.
