Unhappy I'm an idiot

I took the old spider out last week, it looked like it might have been leaking where the fuel poppet lines come out of it. I could not get the nut kit out for several days until I bought a new set of torx head allen wrenches. Finally got the new spider and nut kit in tonight, pressurized the system, only to get the exact pressure readings I had before. 45 running, immediatley dropped off to 15.
Perhaps I should have listened to JustJerry and redone my grounds, I did see what looked like a ground cable down behind the nut kit that looked severed. It just doesn't make since that a bad ground would cause pressure to leak, right?
Or somewhere I cannot see outside of the engine there is gas leaking, or the fuel tank assembly I replaced a few months ago is damaged already. Am I missing anything?

Inside your engine where the fuel spider & nut kit sets, generally if its leaking fuel, where the fuel leak is will be very clean, them the rest of the area will have carbon on it, kind of nasty looking.

Take a look at this picture and see how clean one side is, yet the other side is dirty looking, the clean side is the sign that it was leaking.

This picture shows one that has been leaking on one side.

The ground wire you thought might not be hooked up behind the engine is very important, take another look at it, if it is not hooked up, hook it up, if broken replace it.

Its possible that the parts store gave you the wrong fuel pump. The 1st time mine went out they gave me the wrong one, I had to take it back out, carry it back, them get the right one, them put it back in. I fail to remember what pressure it held, but the one they gave me would not reach the necessary 55 pounds of pressure my engine requires. After putting the 2nd new one, it worked like a charm.

Talking about getting aggravated and mad at my parts man over him giving me the wrong fuel pump is an understatement, when I realized what happen all I saw was red and I just wanted to get my hands around his neck.

I do not know if that is your problem, but it was mine when I installed my 1st fuel pump on my 92 S10 Blazer that has the W engine.

With my limited knowledge on this all I can rightly say is check your grounds, make sure they're grounded good.

swartlkk will probably soon post back, perhaps he can help you a bit more than I can.

Hope you can soon figure it out and get it going.

I found my leak! The hose coming off the fuel pump was clamped with metal bands, the top one had cut through. I took the hose and clamps off the old fuel pump assembly and swapped them out, reassembled, and my pressure has improved. It's now reading about 60 when the pump runs and settles at 50 shortly after the pump stops. That's not quite what it is supposed to be, but it should be enough to run. Unfortunately the truck still would not start. It tried but it seemed to kick back and stall, the battery was drained so i put it on the charger and will try it again after I sleep.
Lesson learned: cheap parts are cheap

Well, I got it started today. It is only getting about 52 psi while running. 60 key on pump on, 50 key on pump off. I would like to know where that ~10 psi is going, but suspect its the cheap spectra premium fuel pump. At least I can get around now.

Big thanks to everyone who tried to help! I hope someone in the future finds this and it helps them (dont mess with cheap fuel pumps, go acdelco or delphi).

How fast does it loose the pressure? Does it continue to bleed down or does it stop there?

It bleeds down to 50 very fast, less than 30 seconds. It then holds at 50 for a long time, at least several hours. However the one time I left it on overnight, most of the pressure was gone the next day.
edit: Just went out and checked, in less than 24 hours there is no fuel pressure left. I did not replace some of the o-rings that i had replaced only a few months ago, maybe I should get some and take it apart again.

If you take the intake covers off, while they're off be sure you pressurize your fuel system and see if there's any fuel leaks before putting them back on. That way you will know 100 % sure there's not fuel leaks.
