Hello, this is my Post n.2! But, long story short story:
I have '97 Blazer, 4wd, 4.300-V6 - I love this truck, really. Never had problems until, one bright day, me and my wife moved in Chiapas... Mexico.
Now, the story of my nickname is easy "iamnotblonde" - I am not really blonde but I dont like that since we moved in chiapas every one call me "guero" aka Blonde and worst of all the mechanic here are like... like... bicycle mechanic!
Let's return for a moment to the juice of the problem. On my poor Blazer I had to make a full change of transmission oil so I asked to a neighbour to help me to find a reliable and good mechanic and he gave me some ideas on who to pick to do this...
So one day ago my Blazer went to see the doctor! And the doctor removed the Pan, removed all the OIL, adviced me which one to buy, the filter and so on.
Everything went fine, he said me that the tranny is fine and blah blah blih, blah blah blah. At the end he wante not too much and the final expense was really affordable. Just an advice, the doc said: Every 6 months, same operation!
Am I good telling tales? It's what my little baby says but... let's return to the problem.
Everything fine... or not? After few kms the SES light UP! And I noticed it immediately and like in a horror movie I was listening to a melody that was making me icing my blood... I changed radio station and the earth attack passed...
I stop to buy some things in a store then I return inside, turn on the truck, I put the D (read it faster, it will sound like with more... mmm... phatos!) and accelerate and... what the... why so slow???
Ok I had to move so I decided to shift to 1 and it started as always like nothing happened, then I switched to D again and walked, a bit slow to engage but walked...
I got home, I tried to park and the R is perfect! Well, I had some work to do so I had no time to check everything... but today...
Saturday! Today, no excuses! I dont need to work and I can have time to check all the pending things and this... this was one.
So I turn on my truck, shifted from P to D and... slow... really slow to engage. I put the 3, slow to engage too! Shifted to 2, slow to engage! Shifted to 1 - Ok! I made a round, shifted to D again and seems to work better but still slow... then I was remembering about the SES (Service Engine Soon) light and I decided to have a round in Tuxtla to see if I was able to find someone able to check this things...
Guess what, how lucky I am! I found a AutoZone!!! And the nice staff decided to make me a checkup to understand what the h*ll is wrong.
With a nice smile, bright teeth, he said "Oh nothing too much serious man". Just two error codes: P0146 and P0758.
P0146 - O2 Bank 1 - Sensor 3 not working well
P0758 - Transmission Solenoid 2-3 - Open Circuit or Short Circuit
So, now that you are eating pop corn thinking that this horror movie continue in a creepy way... no!
I know that there are this two problems but due the fact that finding a good service here is improbable and the only one that I found that seems decent dont know a single word of what I am talking about...
What should I do? I mean, is it possible that the P0758 - Solenoid 2-3 is the actual problem of the transmission?? And, the P0146 - O2 Bank 1 - Sensor 3 is it possible that the problem is really the GAS I used?
Here in Mexico they use two kind of gas, Premium and Magna... And for what a mechanic said me...
Magna is 87 oct, Premium is 92 - It was told me to use the Premium that's why the Error P0146...
Is all this true or should return in Mexico City to the Chevrolet to ask help on my knees crying like a kid?
So... Pros of Blazer Forum! Come one, tell me what do you think!
... I will stay here waiting for your answers and advices but please dont scare me too much
.
Ah... by the way, sorry for my english... am not mexican but italian living and working in mexico, if the "story" was too much longer is because I like to write and I prefer, instead of writing short sentences like "The tranny is not working please help me", to try to give more detail as possible.
Mmm... said so... for now I am done :-)
Thanks for your time.

So... an update! I had a chat with Chevrolet of Mexico City and surprise! They gave me the address of Chevrolet Chiapas in Tuxtla so I just got back from the trip.
The car is fine, transmission is fine too! The problem is that the "pendejo" (idiot) who made the change of tranny oil put too much, so now I have the appointment for thursday at 8.00 am to remove totally the oil, putting the right quantity, make a checkup and decide if it's best or not to change the solenoid.
At the Chevrolet invited me to buy the solenoid from AutoZone because if I want to buy the new Solenoid from them I should buy all the kit... that means all the transmission ahahah! So they were very nice at the end. Lesson learned, never change the tranny oil from a mechanic that seems to be bicycle one.
I will update this thread as soon as I will have everything done.
By the way they invited me to drive "maually" and avoid to run too much.

So! I got no answer for the thread, it's ok but the problem is fixed.
The Code P0146 disappeared as soon the P0758 has been fixed.
Changed the Solenoid B (2-3), flushed the Oil, put in level and the Blazer is as New! 6 month of warranty for all the Job and that's it!
:-)
