Default Dexron VI

I have been reading around about Dexron 6, it claims to be backward compatible and improve fuel economy, shifts, and low temp usage. Has anyone used it and can vouch for any improvement? My dealer says I can get it for $4.40 a quart is this a good price?

That actually would be a great way to go. Synthetic dex3 is almost $7 a quart. If dex 6 is basically synthetic dex3 with more additives, I would definitely do it.

Yah I was hoping there werent any special issue in our transmission, and since only positives have been posted and I havent found any issues online I will go ahead with it soon. Yah the price seemed good at 4.40 a qt since castrol dexron VI at partsamerica is 6.18 and valvoline dexron 3 is 3.98. Is the manual correct that it only takes 5 qts in a pan drain with filter change?

I always have 6-7 qts available when I do a trans service.

On my Rainier, I will be letting the pump do the work! The trans lines are on the bottom of the radiator. I'm going to disconnect them there and push out ~2qts at a time until the fluid runs red again!

Ok did my drain and fill today. Not a ton of metal in the pan only some dust on the magnet. I decided not to put in a drain plug since it was the shallow pan, and it looked pretty cluttered up in there.
