differences in 4l60e's_awd, 2wd, 4x4,
i am looking to change my trans while i am changing my engine. the truck is a 1998 bravada and it has 160k on the body and trans (i believe). i was wondering if i can use a newer trans out of a 2wd or 4x4 so i can get something with low miles for cheap. my engine that i am putting in has 31k miles and i got that from a 03 silveraldo for 500 bucks! so another 500 bucks maybe can get me a trans with 30k miles? and i would just use my transfer case? thanks for the help!!

4wd & AWD - transmissions are identical
2wd - transmission has a longer tail shaft and has an additional tail housing. You cannot use a 2wd transmission in a 4wd or AWD application without changing the tail shaft which requires the complete gutting of the transmission.
