Question Does something WEIRD when coasting in Neutral..

Well, not sure if this is normal or not, but. Did it to me at LEAST two times, and after one of those times, the engine sound. Hmmmm....

Okay, basically, it does this:

1. I am coasting in Neutral. (usually about 20MPH or so)
2. I rev it up.
What it does is.. The RPMs do NOT come back down.. They race up!! And if I put it in "Drive" that solves the problem.

Wish I had known that the first time, and I may not have the noise in the motor....

What is happening there?

Just curious as to the thought behind putting transmission in neutral? Not the best practice for life of transmission.

A few days ago, my car began stalling at lights and while it has gotten better there after I cleaned out the EGR and the butterfly on throttle body.. it will still stall if on the brakes long enough, brake booster leaking or loud suck sound whenever foot on brake. Never used to stall, though .

So, putting it in Neutral was to keep it from stalling And it's almost like it is catching some kind of Vacuum that keeps the revs from going back to idle, instead it races up. One of them may have been a "money shot" too.. but that is how that started.

I've changed out 14 quarts trans fluid total since ownership, will probably do a gallon more soon, and if the engine comes out (it maybe will???) then that may be pretty much all trans fluid replaced, trans shifts real good but I can agree it got beat up a little bit these past few hundred miles.

I would recommend fixing the engine issues before causing any transmission issues if not already present.
