Default EGR-HEADERS-P0401

I put headers on my truck, and i left the egr tube off. now i am getting a p0401 code. i want to know if there maybe some way to trick the ecm to make it think that every thing is ok. can i get the ecm programmed to work with out the egr? i dont want the egr hooked up, because i am about to put a cam in my truck. i would like to find something to fool the ecm. maybe some volts sent back to the ecm? i belive that i have a linear egr. any ideas?

PCM tune is your only option. But you will have to have the tuner make the other appropriate adjustments to compensate for the lack of the EGR system. It isn't just an emissions device. It effectively reduces cyllinder temperatures allowing for greater spark advance and more power that without it without editting to correct the fuel/spark maps. Detonation is more likely to occur without a functioning EGR system.

There are quite a few. If you can find someplace local, it would be the best since they could change anything if you were not satisfied.

I plan on getting a PCMforLESS.com tune for my Rainier. Wait4me is another tuning company that does s-series tunes (sorry no link). There are others as well, just can't think of them right now.
