Default elderborck 1406 rich

Hey guys I just installed a 1406 on my 89 blazer. running a stock 350.. It seems to be running rich.. I have tried adjusting the mixture screws.. My exhaust smells of fuel and I can see the smoke coming out.. At idle it's ok.. But higher RPMS. It's really bad..

Any suggestions

Change the fuel jets inside the carb and make sure your floats are adjusted properly. When you buy them off the shelf the are only tuned good enough for your engine to run.I used alot of the 1406`s back in the day.

Yea,double check float level. turn the set screws all the way in (dont tighten with force, baby it till it stops gently) then turn them both 2 turns out. start from there.

By memory Im also thinking there are some needle jets that you need to adjust properly also.
