Default engine sux with ac on~help

I just recently had the ac recharged on my 98 Blazer and ever since then it seems like the power in my engine sux when I need to speed up or go uphill with the ac on. I've been turning the ac off and there is a difference. I have no issues though when the ac isn't on. Any ideas or suggestions?

when my ac worked it always seemed like I was hauling an extra 500lbs around with it on,not sure if its normal though either someone else can chime in with a system that is still working.

I'm assuming before it was recharged it wasn't working properly. With the A/C on the compressor draws some power. I would assume about 10 hp, depending on the system and other variances. On an older engine that isn't in peak condition this could make a big difference. The A/C makes a noticable difference in power in almost every car i've driven.
