Default Engine Swap 2001 engine into 1996

Can you see any larger potential problems swapping out a 4.3 vtec in a 2001 into a 1996 blazer? Planning on getting dirty this weekend pulling parts and swapping around.

About the only thing is the knock sensor attachment type. Before you put the replacement motor in, make sure that you can thread on the single wire knock sensor to the back of the block.

Yes!!! Started the swap late Friday afternoon. Man there is a ton of crap to take off and move out of the way prior to being able to move it. Pulled the motor out of the 96 blazer and got most of the stuff removed off of the 2000 blazer to be very close to pulling it.

Those bolts in the back of the bell housing are a pain in the ****. There are gonna be a lot of parts for sale off of the 2000 blazer so let me know if you guys need anything in particular. The 2000 is the 4 button 4wd, moon roof, etc. Drivers side of the blazer took the brunt of the roll over. So the glass, doors, fenders bumper, etc are all damaged goods. Passenger side and interior is good to go.

There is really a lot of work to remove an engine.

No problems with the computer as both are generations 2. The 2000 just has extra wiring that the 96 doesn't due to all the power options.

From the top looking in, the engine, mounts, harness's, ac, radiator, fans, etc etc etc all just match up.

Completely different scenario playing out in this thread. I answered you back in your thread on the subject. Best to keep the questions there.

Sorry no pics as of now. We were too busy to really take pictures. There is a lot of work involved.
