Default Engine swap compatibility

I have a 1997 s10 and a 2001 s10 that isn't running. I was going to put running motor from '97 into '01. I know they are different generations ad the ecm's are different as is the wiring. Is this a doable swap and do I need to switch over all the electrical. Thanks for the help

I would pop the crank sensor off both and rotate the engines to make sure the both have the same lobe the crank sensor reads. So your computer gets the same signal she needs.

There is a difference, I just can't remember which years were different.

can a 2000 Bravada motor go into a 2001 Blazer, both 4.3 computers are different. Do I need to change out the computer and the wiring harness?
