I just picked up a 98 jimmy 4.3 for price i couldnt pass up. The motor has a ticking noise that sounds like its coming from the right side of the motor but its hard to tell. I thinking it just needs a new lifter but not positive. I have a P0340 code which is for the CMP sensor. Im wondering if these are by chance related. Is it possible that the cam is junk causing the tick and the DTC? I will probably throw a sensor in it this week to see if that fixes it. HAs anyone else had this same problem. I want to get this fixed asap so i can resell it and need to find out if i need to order up a cam or lifters or...
