Hello all, I just got my 97 blazer ls 4x4 yesterday and i noticed a knocking noise under the hood, im pretty sure it is a sticky valve, but can you get sticky valves at only 68 thousand miles? Also my dads 96 blazer went to the shop for brakes and they looked over the truck because it is so high miled. But they said we had a ripped off motor mount, he said it looks like its been like that for a while, so should we fix it for 200 bucks or leave it? Whats the worst that could happen leaving it? Thanks for reading this I hope you can help

That seems kind of high for a motor mount replacement, but I definitely would not leave it as is. You do not want the motor just flopping around in there. Much more damage can occur if left unrepaired.

Valves are more of a tick. I'd have that knock looked at. Knocks are usually more serious. But yes, you can get sticky valves on an engine that young if you don't take care of it or run it too hard.
Thats a decent quote for the mount. Maybe a little on the high side, but not quite a rip-off. I'd do it.

I figure there may be some damage if that motor mount has been like that for a while. If its recent and no collateral damage, try talking them down to 100-130. Labor is 70-90 an hour depending on where you go.

Hey thank you! I'll tell my dad bout that mount and how he should get it done! About the knocking noise i'll bring it to the local mechanic to look at it ill also bring it to my cousins shop and they free inspections of every thing in the truck. Can't beat free!

I just recently tore a 4.3 apart, because of knock. I found that the thrust bearing had eaten part of the crank face. This is factory stock. The GM bearing have a bur on the top edges of the bearings. These cut into the crank thrust wall. I replaced the crank and chamferred the mating edges to prevent this from happening again.
To check for the thrust bearing problem. Grab the crank pulley and try and see if you can move back and forth.

Hey thank you!! The noise sounds likes its coming from under my drivers side valve cover. Also i went to put my cb in and noticed that my cig jacks dont work is there a fuse under the hood, cause all the interior fuses are good. or is there a relay to them?
