front 4x4 axle upgrade???
ok I have a 01 blazer 4x4 and I have been reading about putting a solid axle if the ifs 7.25" front ends but my question is....will everything still work normally...in example with the full axle in the the drive shaft will be turning all the time now and then that's hooked to the t case and I know its controlled by the switch on the dash but it just all seems a little iffy to me but maybe I worry to much
That's my plan! Our blazers should have come from the factory with 44's front and rear!
well I was not lookin to replace the whole axle because the differential is fine except for the passenger side axle with that gear that locks in 4x4 in the front axle the bravadas and awd Astros and safaris don't have them naturally because they are awd its just like a normal to axle to cv joint and they make them for our blazers so that it eliminates the actuator and and the **** inside....vaccum problematic stuff and just makes where all you are controlling is putting the tcase in 4 wheel drive or 2wd I believe...I just wanted to see if anybody had tried this and if I was understanding it right
Ohh, I misunderstood, I assumed you were talking about replacing it with a complete axle assembly.
Yes, it will work with an AWD passenger shaft in your existing differential, but everything in your front driveline will be spinning all the time. Some guys have had driveshaft vibration issues after doing the swap.
On my '96 I had to change the wiring and vacuum hoses for the front axle to fool it into thinking it still had the actuator and switch from the front axle.
