Fuel pump modification
Hello all. I have a 97 Blazer 4x4 4 door with a dead fuel pump. I want to install an inline pump to bypass the in tank one and was wondering what all was required to modify the in tank pump to allow the inline pump to pull. Thank you for your time. Also I have a pretty good amount of mechanical knowledge.

Well, onl thing is inline pumps seem to last only so much time,at least from my experience. a decent one is 150+ and then whatever u need to install. plus, whenever it dies you have a tow bill. Id rather suggest replace the factory pump with a oem pump and roll. Is this a daily driver?

Yes but it's been off the road for a while because doing various work to it and I was almost finished when the fuel pump went out. And I plan on having a spare so if it goes out its about 10 min of work to change on the side of the road or on the trail as opposed to, like you said, a tow bill. Just a decision I've made

You would still have to drop the tank to remove the old pump, wouldn't you? I wouldn't think the inline would live long having to suck through the old in tank pump. Seems like if your tank is down, anyway, just get a good delco or delphi pump and you're good for another 100K+.

I was actually thinking about doing this too if my fuel pump is bad like @OP said it's cheaper and easier to replace I would like to know how it goes if you do replace it with a inline. Also are you taking the origional pump out or are you going to try and suck through it?
